Hermanus Whale Festival planning has begun

Overstrand Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie, expressed support for the Hermanus Whale Festival of which the dates have been announced as 29 September to 1 October 2023.

No other festival in the Overberg can lay claim to the record of 32 years of existence as the Whale Festival can.

With the reputation as a longstanding event that draws big crowds, it is expected that there might be interest to collaborate and partake in one way or another.

Parties interested in working with the Whale Festival should contact Festival Director, Jeanette du Toit, on cell phone 082 739 1022 or on email jeanette@hermanuswhalefestival.co.za

As is customary, the festival aligns with the first weekend of the October school holiday.  This year’s programme includes a street parade, fun run, Western Province strong man competition, marine tent with talks as well as the stalls at the Old Harbour parking area.

Mayor Rabie encouraged people and organisations to make use of the opportunity and contact the organisers timeously to help make this year’s Hermanus Whale Festival a success.
